Shared Apartments: The Best of Both Worlds
February 21, 2025
Why a Shared Apartment with a Private Room & Bathroom is the Ultimate Student Living Setup
College housing is all about trade-offs. Dorms are social but noisy. Studios offer privacy but can get lonely (and expensive). Traditional shared apartments? Well, sharing a bathroom with three other people can quickly turn into a horror movie. But what if you could have the best of both worlds? A shared apartment with a private bedroom and en suite bathroom gives you the perks of living with roommates—without the downside of waiting in line for a shower while someone sings off-key behind the door.
Independence Without Isolation
Living in a shared apartment means you’ll always have people around for a spontaneous late-night pizza run or a much-needed vent session after an impossible exam. But unlike dorm life—where your roommate's alarm is your alarm—you can retreat to your own private space when you need peace and quiet. Want to binge-watch a show in your pajamas without judgment? Go for it. Need to cram for an exam without someone blasting music? No problem. It’s the perfect balance of social and solo.
Personal Comfort Meets Cost Savings
Let’s be real—college is expensive. But renting a private room and bathroom in a shared apartment lets you split costs like rent and utilities without sacrificing personal space. You don’t have to pay for a one-bedroom apartment all on your own, yet you still get the luxury of shutting the door and enjoying your own space. It’s like a VIP upgrade without the VIP price tag.
No More Bathroom Battles
One of the biggest struggles of shared living is the dreaded bathroom queue. If you've ever fought for mirror space or walked in on a roommate’s deep-conditioning ritual that’s taking way too long, you know the struggle is real. But with your own private bathroom, you control the schedule—no more rushing through your morning routine because someone else decided to take a 45-minute shower. Plus, you never have to question whether it’s your turn to buy toilet paper.
The Ideal Student Living Setup
A shared apartment with a private room and bathroom gives you all the best parts of student living—affordability, convenience, and social opportunities—without the worst parts of dorm-style chaos. You can enjoy the freedom of having your own space while still being part of a community. Whether you're looking for a quiet place to study, a built-in group of friends, or just a guaranteed line-free bathroom, this setup has you covered.
So why settle for anything less? With private-room student housing at the Chocolate House Apartments, you get the perfect mix of privacy, affordability, and sanity. Now, if only we could figure out a way to make your professors stop assigning homework over the weekend...

If you’ve been looking at our website or signs and wondering, "Wait… is it 'Chocolate House' or 'Chocolate Haus'?" —you’re not alone. We’ve had people ask if it’s a typo, a secret code, or some kind of fancy marketing trick. But no, there’s actually a reason behind the name, and it’s got everything to do with chocolate, business, and a little bit of European flair. The Name Game: Why We’re "Chocolate Haus LLC" When we started our company, we wanted to call it The Chocolate House LLC—simple, straightforward, and delicious-sounding. Unfortunately, that name was already taken. So, rather than getting into a legal battle over a name (which, let’s be honest, would be a lot less fun than running student apartments), we decided to take inspiration from where our roots actually are: Europe. Enter the German spelling: "Haus." Since the ownership of Chocolate House Apartments is directly tied to real chocolate factories in Germany and Belgium, using "Haus" was the perfect way to create a distinction while also giving a nod to the rich, chocolate-filled history behind it all. Is This a German Language Lesson? Not Quite—But Here’s a Fun Fact! In German, "Haus" simply means "house," and is pronounced exactly the same—the only difference is the spelling. So, while it might look fancy, it’s really just the same word with an international twist. If we wanted to get really German with it, we could have called it "Das Schokoladenhaus", but that felt like a mouthful (though a very tasty one). So, What’s the Deal With the Multiple Spellings? For branding and communication, we often use "Chocolate House Apartments"—because, let’s face it, most people in Logan, Utah, aren’t expecting German vocabulary lessons when they’re looking for a great place to live. But officially, our company is The Chocolate Haus LLC, a name that reflects both our European chocolate connections and the practical need to have a unique legal identity. The "Chocolate House Apartments" is also mostly used to refer to the shared student apartments at 675 E 600 N, while the other properties we manage have their own special names, such as the "Aggie Ridge" apartments that we recently added to the Chocolate Haus family. Final Thoughts (or, Just a Good Excuse to Talk About Chocolate) Whether you say "House" or "Haus," the most important thing is that our apartments offer an exceptional living experience—no dictionary required. And while our name might have European influences, our goal is simple: to provide comfortable, convenient, and quality housing for Utah State University students and young professionals in Logan . So, next time someone asks why we sometimes use "Haus," feel free to impress them with this little story—or just tell them it’s because we love chocolate so much, we had to go international with it. Either way, it’s a sweet deal. 🍫🏠

Plus, being close to campus makes it easier to participate in after-school activities, club meetings, and student events without worrying about late-night transportation or long commutes. Live Smarter by Staying Close to Campus Choosing where to live during college isn’t just about finding the cheapest rent—it’s about considering the bigger picture. Living close to USU means saving money on transportation, taking advantage of campus resources, and making the most of student life without added stress.
